This is the side of "steampunk" people rarely see it seems. As a fashion editor, I'm suppose to try my best to find the trends before they hit and steampunk was just getting started when I did this shoot for Gothic Beauty Magazine (issue 24). There was then, and still very much so now, people slapping on a few gears to Victorian wear and calling it steampunk. No one explores the very fun more sci fi slant it can have with that hint of retro.

This shoot is about... oh wow, I think almost 3,4 years old now. I got so burnt out with steampunk (I've seen too many top hats with goggles these days) that I just abandoned it altogether. But I think I want to pay another visit to it again.... doing it all sky captain like of course. Forget those annoying bustles!

Goggles were a custom creation by Atome Fabrik!

That gun was a toy gun I modded out myself and it's pretty freakin' cool. :P

I'm the model and Aaron Kennison shot it. By the way - do you see all the grungy aspects? That's because I'm filthy, we shot in a real and very working boiler room that was about 150 years old. Very greasy, very dirty, very freakin' hot!

Like the black and white picture, location, and costume. Great job.
