Lady Rawhide by Acid-PopTart Lady Rawhide by Acid-PopTart
Not only have I dug up this oldie out of my personal cosplay vault, but I've probably dug up a character no one remembers!

For those who don't know, back during the oh so crazy but cool "bad girl craze" which was full of good and bad girls alike, Topps put out a comic called Lady Rawhide! I saw it and knew I had to make that costume, plus no one had really done it at the time.

If this picture looks familiar to anyone - it ran in Wizard, can't remember which issue, and I won runner up for the costume contest. Want to know what won first place? Our very own X-Men group! :D Yep, I made two appearances in that issue.

Here's a look at Lady Rawhide the comic: [link]

I like your Lady Rawhide, could you please do more? She is a character, that is done so little, both in the comics and in cosplay. She could become, more of a favorite, of not only myself, but a lot of other people if she was put out in the publics eye more often!!!!

Actually Lady Rawhide is owned by AC Comics/Bill Black, and has quite a few appearances in their books over the years.

Okay, first, you are just awesome for not only remembering this femme fatale, but ALSO dressing up as her, and you look muoy caliente if I do say so myself :XD: (don't know spanish so sorry for bad spelling BTW). I remember stumbling upon that comic years ago with the super hot cover of being bitten by a vampire and wondered if this was in the right section  ! Grabbed every issue I could and was pleasantly surprised at how good the writing was (I didn't know Don McGregor at the time). To this day I'm still pissed that his last arc got canceled and left it on a cliffhanger, drives me nuts :X she bashes the coffin open and it's a corpse...THEN WHAT :angered: !? It's too bad he didn't try and take it to Heavy Metal or some other outlet for closure, also Esteban Moroto was on fire drawing that book, his art was a huge inspiration to me :XD: !
Anyway I'm glad you posted these cause I totally missed that issue of Wizard if you sent it there to, and I would have remembered something like this. I made an attempt at drawing her myself if you'd like to see, thought the lines didn't come out very well, kinda faded. Ciao!

Well thank you so much! I chose Lady Rawhide at the time because she was fairly new, I loved her and no one else at the time (that I had seen) had done the costume yet - and it was a bit of a challenge. Took forever to put in all those damn grommets by hand!

That's the problem with obscure characters, they don't get enough cosplay treatment, wish more ladies would dress up as the 80s version of Teela from He-Man :-)

I met Adam Hughes recently at the San Jose super con and signed my copy of that LR issue where she's changing clothes and looking surprised at us see her in the cover, brilliant work on his part. Make Mayhew was supposed to be there to but didn't show up the day I went sadly, which sucked cause I had a copy of the Trade he illustrated.

Darn!!

I remember Lady Rawhide. I even had the poster of her from Wizard magazine. she was a fun character from the same 'universe' as Zorro.

I actually have the issue of Wizard you are talking about.

There is a new Zorro cartoon on Australian tv at the moment set in the future and they even have an updated version of Lady Rawhide. I think her name has the word Lash in it, of course and she has an energy whip as her weapon and is the daughter of the corrupt Mayor that Zorro fights.

I better go, my geekish leanings are showing, heheheh.

Seriously? She still exists - I mean kind of? Freakin' awesome!

Omg, you have that copy of Wizard? I use to enter those costume contests all the time - I used different aliases! Once I won in another cosplay group for Gen 13, I was dating this lunatic at the time, and used his last name and a shortened version of my first name. So I was Anna Blackwell.

Oh hun, it's okay, you can be geekish over here any time! We love you for it!

Who did you dress up from Gen 13??

There would be a few interesting character choices in the more anti hero group DV8 that would make some awesome cos-ply choices.

My geekiness runs down so may paths these days. comics, cartoons, music, gaming etc etc etc.

With my writting I get inspiration from so many sources. I guess ya would also call me a 'goth-geek' but not because I am a Goth (though I am, lol) but because I have a geekishness when it comes to Ladies who model in the goth 'style'. I have written mant adult erotica tales inspired by the modeling work of many ladies of the life style including for their websites.

I guess I am a geek of all trades, hehehehe.

Geek of all trades!

I was Freefall from the Gen 13 group. I shockingly have no photos from that except a few "backstage" shots. But I bet the guy who made all those costumes has something, I'll have to go look him up, we're still in touch on occasion.

Oh yeah, DV8 would have been fun, when we did the Gen 13 thing, I'm pretty sure it was super new still, like they were riding the height of their fame and it was around issue 13 or so - before DV8 came about. Can't remember her name, but the chick in all red, I would have totally played her.

I loved the first issues of DV8 as Warren Ellis, a totally cool and twisted writer wront them.

I kind of stopped redin and collecting them after a while but I would so get them again when fundage allows.

I could also see you as Ivan Bial(sp). she was the power behind the team. Like the scar faced gentleman who ran Gen 13. she did not have powers per say but was cyber enhanced, twisted and a genius. she was not afraid of experimenting on the team.

I can picture you as Freefall from Gen. I will go through my issues of DV8 later and try and find the name of the characters and a brief description.

I have to say I loved your Rogue pics too.
